Default Selling "Unidentified" items to players?

Tried searching for an answer, but couldn't find any.

Anyways, saw someone trying to sell "Unidentified" rares earlier today. Does the person who ID's the item determine what enhancement it may get? Or is it already set in stone what the item is?

Just curious as it's almost like a lottery system if it's already set. You take a chance that the only additional enhancement on the item could be 'Highly Salvagable' instead of Superior Rune of Elite-Dragon Killing... err Vigor.

I don't know if the community can answer that question. If player (A) identifies it then player (B) can't. So how would you know what (B) would have gotten?

You probably will need an answer from someone closer to the source but my assumption is it is set in stone once it drops.

The real question is does it really matter if it is set in stone or pops up on a random note at the time it is id'd.

Seems like it makes no difference at all to me, so why concern yourself. It'a lot like wondering about all the awesome gold rares the henchies have gotten that none of us will ever see...

True, I guess my main concern is the whole randomness of buying an unidentified item. As it seems that people charge more for them than something that has all stats known.

Not that I'd buy an unidentified item, and it's not a scam per se, was just wondering if anyone had other insights.

You do have to wonder, if someone had the proper hack... if they could tell the stats beforehand. I assume to prevent this.. the stats are made when you identify the item.

Myself, I would never buy an unidentified item on the basis that I could fail in the salvage(if it was a possible rune) or it could be worthless stats wise.

I'm not sure, but: if it works like most games, then the item's stats are determined at drop. I believe the reason that players want to purchase the unid'ed item is that if it does contain any runes, when the player id's the item that rune is unlocked forevermore for use by their PvP characters on that account. Then, especially if the player is a PvP-only kind of guy, the player can re-sell the id'ed item and get most of his money back.

People don't buy indentifiable items to use, I don't think.

You ever notice how when you identify certain items it ays you unlock something, well that has something to do with PVP characters, you can use that item prefix/suffix or something to that effect.

So people buy identifiable items to hopefully get their PVP characters stronger.

Yep the unidentifed stuff people sell is usually purple/gold salvage armor that is 38-40 armor due to the good runes that come out of them for pvp unlock

Not necessarily... I wouldn't buy any unidentified item in the first place, but if I did, I would for the runes for my PvE character. It's really all about personal preference.

I'd much rather just buy the runes straight than the armor since there's a chance it might not salvage. Which is why the seller does it that way, so they wont run the risk of wasting it (might as well get some money out of it).

Well, the PvPer-only fellow doesn't have to actually salvage the rune to be able to use it. He can use it if it has been unlocked on his account.

Yes. When you unlock something, it's available for all your PvP characters on character creation. A rune that you just buy can only be used once.

Except for if you have the rune on your armor and you buy new armor, then expert salvage the armor with the rune on it for a chance to get it back. In that case, you could use it more than once.
